easy fotpall från norrgavel med skinnklädsel

Leather is a living material with natural changes in colour and variations. We have deliberately chosen to use leather that shows the marks of insect bites, etc. – this helps to give the leather a truly authentic look. For environmental reasons, we solely use skins tanned without using chrome.

    GENERAL ADVICE FOR LEATHER

» Do not place the furniture too close to a heat source. Leave an air gap of 20–30 cm. Exposure to direct sunlight will make light leather darker and fade darker colours, as well as making the leather dry and thus brittle.
» Only use a dry, soft cloth for ordinary cleaning. Do not use a vacuum cleaner as it can scratch the surface. Where necessary, wipe or rub the whole surface carefully with a clean, soft cloth wrung out well in clean water.
» Different maintenance treatments are recommended depending on the choice of leather. See specific care advice for the respective leather upholstery further down the page.
» Using leather cream or leather oil can result in slight changes to the colour.

Note! Don’t use chemical surface treatment, cleaning products or soap solutions. They can destroy or discolour the surface of the leather, especially if it is damaged or worn.

    Leather Wild nature Tärnsjö

Vegetable tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri. Vegetable tanning means that the skins are free from toxins such as chrome, which is otherwise common. We have deliberately used leather where the marks from insect bites, etc. are visible. We think this adds an honest and authentic look.

    Materials

100% vegetable tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri.

    Care & laundry instructions

Our leather ages beautifully, gaining a patina over time. Furniture with leather upholstery must not stand in sunlight as the light and the heat will dry out the leather and there is a risk of cracking. If necessary, use a microfibre cloth or a very slightly damp (not wet) cloth as moisture will dry out the leather.

For cleaning, we recommend Leather Master Soft Cleaner or a mild leather soap. Some chemicals affect the leather finish and can make it more matt. Therefore, always test a cleaning product on a small hidden area before using it to clean a larger area.

For maintenance, we recommend Leather Master Protection Cream. Warm and dry air will dry the leather out if it is not treated regularly. Use a very sparing amount of leather oil or leather grease if needed.

    LEATHER DUNES

Dunes is an aniline leather (cowhide), a through-dyed leather with open pores that has not been surface treated. The result produces a leather surface with natural texture and colour variation. Dunes is as smooth as velvet thanks to the time-consuming manufacturing process where the leather has been brushed and oiled with a specialist oil to achieve its unique, soft feel. We have deliberately used leather with a very rustic appearance. As well as marks from insect bites, it also incorporates scratches and pigment marks which are still visible – natural details that produce an honest sense of authenticity. Every hide is dyed individually, which means that the colour may vary somewhat from hide to hide.

    Materials

Chrome-free, tanned leather from Sørensen in Denmark. Chrome-free tanning means that the leather is completely free of chrome, which is otherwise very common (a whole 90% of all leather produced in the world is tanned using chrome). Made from European raw hides originating from Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

    Care & laundry instructions

Our leather ages beautifully, gaining a patina over time. Furniture with leather upholstery must not stand in sunlight as the light and the heat will dry out the leather and there is a risk of cracking.

Cleaning Dunes with soap and water or treating it with leather oil will not affect its quality but the matt surface of the leather will disappear. Otherwise we recommend vacuuming with a soft brush and wiping with a dry microfibre cloth. A very slightly damp (not wet) cloth is an alternative.

    Reindeer hide

We only use vegetable tanned reindeer hides for our upholstery. Vegetable tanning means that the hides are free from toxins such as chrome, which is otherwise common. So that the naturally hard reindeer hide can be used for furniture, it is softened in a process called fulling.

    Materials

    100% vegetable tanned reindeer hide.

    Care & laundry instructions

Furniture with leather upholstery must not stand in sunlight as the light and the heat will dry out the leather and there is a risk of cracking.

Reindeer hide will age and become darker over time and gain a beautiful patina. Don’t worry, therefore when your new reindeer hide-clad furniture looks like “pink pigskin”. To give the new hide a darker tone and a more stain-resistant surface, we recommend treating it with Ekol leather oil.
If necessary, use a microfibre cloth or a very slightly damp cloth (not wet as moisture will dry out the leather). Marks should be absorbed (don’t rub) with a clean sponge. Use water and a mild soap solution, or leather cleaner, but make sure that the entire surface is moistened to avoid differences in colour. Leave to dry and re-oil.
