The word kilim (Turkish: kilim or Persian: gilim) means “coarsely woven blanket.” Kilim refers both to the rugs themselves and the weaving technique used to create them. These rugs are a type of oriental flat weave, similar to the Swedish röllakan technique. Kilim rugs are characterised by geometric, trapezoidal patterns, a flat weave without pile, and they are reversible. They come in a wide range of colours, including earthy tones that add a soft, calming detail to your interior.
All the kilim rugs you find with us are handwoven from wool—each one completely unique. The rugs are relatively thin and can be layered to cover a larger floor area, or even used as wall decorations. Timelessly beautiful, kilim rugs add colour, texture, and warmth to any room and suit modern, traditional, and relaxed interiors alike.
Our carefully selected kilim rugs work perfectly in the living room seating area, under dining furniture, in the kitchen, bedroom, hallway, or bathroom. Their flat weave without pile makes them especially suitable for dining areas, as chairs stand firmer and can easily be slid in and out.
Natural fibre rugs bring warmth and a cosy feel to the home. They’re pleasant to walk on and exceptionally beautiful and durable. Thanks to wool’s unique properties, wool rugs are highly resistant to dirt and stains. Wool is naturally oily, meaning dirt and liquids tend to stay on the surface and can be wiped away easily.
